Volunteering in Southern & Eastern Africa
Southern Africa is a part of the world where the so-called "first world" and the "third world" are meeting each other face to face day by day. Cities like Cape Town or Johannesburg are giving the traveller the feeling of being somewhere in Europe, the States or Australia; at the same time the townships, rural villages, the people in the streets are telling the couscious traveller, that she/he is not in a used environment, but on a different continent. And that is somehow what travelling is all about - to explore and experience foreign countries, the people, their history and current problems.
Many of todays travellers do not only want to experience the "traditional" elements of travelling - history, arts, geography, adventure, people etc. - they also want to do such things like to volunteer with monkeys or to volunteer at a community centre to more and more understand the various aspects of the countries they are travelling through.
