Of all the cities on the planet, London is arguably the best stocked with hotels. The British capital is not a cheap destination to visit, but if you have enough spare cash it can be a hugely enjoyable place to spend some time. If you are being sent on business and have a decent-sized expense account, the city really is your oyster, as long as you can explain away your excesses upon your return. London hotels range from cheap bed and breakfasts to luxury destinations such as the Sunborn Yacht Hotel in London's Docklands region, beloved of city boys and London's media elite.

One new hotel which is proving popular among business visitors is the Saint Gregory Hotel in trendy Shoreditch. The hotel is geared towards visitors in town to deal with the financial institutions based in and around the Square Mile. The Saint Gregory offers 200 rooms of contemporary luxury, fully air-conditioned furnished with splendidly comfortable beds and relaxing leather armchairs. The gym is top quality and there is a cocktail lounge for relaxing afterwards. The rooftop restaurant is not to be missed.

In the West End, the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel is another high-end option for visitors to London. The hotel's 272 rooms are imaginatively designed and facilities available to visitors include high speed wi-fi access to all residents throughout the hotel, the Portman Restaurant serving contemporary cuisine and a fully-equipped fitness centre with an outdoor tennis court.

A number of the capital's hotels are in or around Kensington and Chelsea. One of the richest residential areas in the world, the borough is popular among tourists who are enchanted by the 'real' London feel. Formerly the Hogarth Hotel, the Shaftesbury Kensington Hotel has been fully refurbished to be a 4 star boutique-style hotel with a host of luxurious features. The new rooms are bathed in the comfort of mood lighting, interactive television, free broadband internet access, bathroom TVs in suites, bathrobes and more besides. Around the corner, the Abba Queens Gate hotel, has also been recently refurbished to a high standard, with all 82 rooms offering a spacious design and the added luxuries of a restaurant, lobby bar and meeting room. The exterior of the building is that of a traditional London building, the interior design is among the freshest to be found in Kensington.
